Tottenham Hotspur may have reached for the chequebook a number of times this summer, but it doesn’t appear to be worn-out just yet.
The Daily Mail reports that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ready to sanction further moves in January, with Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao and a new striker topping Andre Villas-Boas’s shopping list.
The left-back almost signed on loan for Manchester United on transfer deadline day, despite being linked with a switch to White Hart Lane for much of the summer. But after that deal fell through, he could be available again when the window re-opens.
And while Roberto Soldado has started his Spurs career with a bang, he is one of only two recognised and currently playing forwards in the squad.
In potential outs, Emmanuel Adebayor is reportedly a target for Queens Park Rangers, although Harry Redknapp has admitted to Sky Sports that it is unlikely the Togo striker will play in the second tier.
“I would love Manny here but I couldn’t see him dropping down to the Championship,” the former Spurs boss said.
But having seen a potential move to Germany fall through in the summer, Adebayor may have a decision to make, at least a short-term one, for the good of his career.
