Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has told Sky Sports that Mauricio Pochettino dislikes the fact that he is going away to represent his country.

Eriksen has had to be rested at Tottenham in recent weeks, with the midfielder still not fully fit.

The £11.5 million signing from Ajax (BBC Sport) does want to play for Denmark over the upcoming international break through.

And Eriksen said: “Any coach in football doesn’t like national team games because it’s out of your hands, you can’t really control what’s going to happen.

“It’s different, but he knows as a player it’s there – he did that as a player as well so he knows how it is.”

Tottenham will be hoping Eriksen returns from representing his in good condition, as they need him fit.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently have nine players out with injury, after a difficult start to the season.

Multiple members of Tottenham’s squad went a long way into the World Cup, and their lack of a break seems to have caused some injury problems.

Spurs are set to take on Chelsea when they return to football after the international break in two weekends’ time.
