Last week was a bad one for Tottenham midfielder Luke Amos and it got worse at the end of it.

Amos was Tottenham’s pre-season star, who shone in midfield against Barcelona.

Chances since have not materialised. Last week was his big hope, to get an opportunity against Watford in the League Cup.

It didn’t happen, and he wasn’t even named on the bench.

On Friday night he was back in action, starting for Tottenham’s under-23 side.

His evening against Blackburn ended prematurely, when he was substituted after just 22 minutes with an injury.

Tottenham’s under-23s went onto win the fixture 3-1, without their captain.

This was a fixture where Amos could have laid down a statement to his first team bosses, that he should have been utilised. Instead the midfielder will look back on it as a disaster.

Amos’ injury status is currently unclear, with Tottenham yet to provide any sort of update.

What is certain, is that when Spurs’ first team face Barcelona on Wednesday night in the Champions League, Amos will be nowhere to be seen.
