Southampton are looking into a possible deal for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Michael Craig after taking him on trial.
That’s according to Hampshire Live, who claim that Craig has begun training with Southampton ahead of a possible move.
Southampton are eyeing up a permanent deal for Craig but want to see how he fares in training with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
Craig, 18, has played nine times in Premier League 2 for Tottenham’s Under-23 side this season, registering one assist.
Despite being born in Barnet, Craig represents Scotland on the international stage and has caps for the Scotland Under-16’s and Under-17’s.
Primarily a holding midfielder, Craig hasn’t really been able to break through at Tottenham and may now look to leave for Southampton.
The Saints have a great record when it comes to developing young players, and that has to be appealing to Craig.
Southampton are also focusing on bringing in young players from rival Premier League clubs, with Valentino Livramento, Dynel Simeu and Thierry Small all arriving last summer.

Craig could be the latest addition for Southampton, with Tottenham seemingly happy for him to go out on trial.
If Craig needs any inspiration, he only has to look at Southampton striker Armando Broja.
Broja was also in the Tottenham ranks as a kid but moved on to Chelsea and is now shining on loan at Southampton.
That’s the kind of future Craig wants, and Southampton should offer a better pathway to first-team action than Tottenham.
