Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with Leicester City’s Demarai Gray in the summer transfer window.

According to a report in the Daily Star, Demarai Gray is set to sign a new long-term contract at Leicester City, and that may mean that Tottenham Hotspur have missed their chance to sign the England youth international.

Spurs were heavily linked with Gray throughout the summer transfer window in the Daily Mirror, with a £30 million bid talked about, but they were unable to agree a fee for the exciting winger.

And Leicester are now planning to act to secure Gray’s future, as the signs are he could be a key player under Claude Puel.

Puel started Gray in his first match in charge, and the former Birmingham City man terrorised Everton’s defence with his pace and trickery.

Gray inspired Leicester to a 2-0 victory over the Toffees, and his display has led to the Foxes preparing a new four-year deal.

If Gray pens that contract his value is set to sky rocket, and with Tottenham still seemingly searching for bargains, it may be that the 21-year-old no longer remains on their radar.
