Mauricio Pochettino says that this season will be tough for Tottenham Hotspur.
Pochettino was appointed the Tottenham manager of 2014 following his departure from Premier League rivals Southampton at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.
The Argentine boss has been a huge success at Spurs, with the North London club finishing in the top four of the Premier League for the past four seasons.
Pochettino, though, has admitted that the 2018-19 season is going to be tough for Tottenham.
“For me it will be the toughest season,” Pochettino told The Mirror. “I think if we want success we have to give more than our best. It’s not enough 100 per cent, it’s 200 per cent.
“We know from inside that it will be hard, the season and because we are warriors we want to fight.”
Worrying for Tottenham Hotspur fans
Tottenham have progressed steadily under Pochettino over the past four seasons and have become regulars in the Champions League.
However, the Argentine boss’s aforementioned comments could worry Spurs fans.
Tottenham failed to sign a single player in the summer transfer window, and nine players returned late from the World Cup.
Moreover, there is a delay in the completion of the White Hart Lane, meaning that Spurs still have to play their home matches at the Wembley Stadium for the time being.
With Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal having all strengthened their respective squads, Spurs are in danger of playing catch-up.
While Tottenham do have a brilliant starting lineup, their bench is not as good as some of their major rivals.
