Tottenham Hotspur sent Tanguy Ndombele back to Lyon on loan for the rest of the season.

Premier League club Tottenham announced on January transfer deadline day that Ndombele has moved back to Lyon and will stay at the French club until the end of the season.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Lyon have the option to sign the Frenchman on a permanent deal for €65 million (£54.26m)

Romano has also said that Lyon will cover part of the 25-year-old’s £200,000-a-week salary.

Sky Sports have reported that Lyon have paid Tottenham a loan fee of £12 million for Ndombele.

Now, in our view, that is a masterstroke that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has pulled off, and we are not giving him enough praise.

Ndombele cost Tottenham £53.8 million in transfer fees, and Levy was able to negotiate a sum similar to that with Lyon.

Now, of course, Lyon have the option to make the deal permanent; it is not mandatory.

However, if Ndombele does well and impresses back in France, then Lyon could be tempted to keep the midfielder on a permanent basis.

And it is very likely that Ndombele will do well at Lyon.

After all, he played with success for the Ligue 1 club, which is why Tottenham signed him in the first place.

So, in our opinion, there is every chance that Ndombele could get back to his best in familiar surroundings, and that means money for Tottenham.
