Tottenham Hotspur are currently sat in second place in the Premier League table.

Jamie Carragher looks set to be set to be proven wrong by Tottenham Hotspur, after predicting they would miss out on the top four at the start of the season.

Carragher told Sky Sports News, back in August, that he felt that top four would consist of Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.

He said: “I think Manchester City will win the league, with Chelsea next, followed by Manchester United, and then Liverpool, with no Champions League football.”

While Carragher’s prediction is not too far off being correct, it seems that he underestimated Tottenham’s quality.

Spurs are currently in second place in the Premier League table, and only a collapse between now and the end of the season would see them miss out on claiming a Champions League spot.

Tottenham have built up a seven point advantage over fifth placed Manchester United, giving them a big cushion.

In fairness to Carragher, he has already acknowledged that he may have been wrong about Spurs, after revising his prediction in October.

“On the back of last season – going very close to the title – maybe people thought Spurs would drop off this season,” the Liverpool legend said to the London Evening Standard.

“But no – they look like they’ll be right in there again challenging for the title.”

Tottenham are next in action this weekend against Burnley, and if they can pick up the three points at Turf Moor it would further consolidate Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s position in Champions League qualification places.
