Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with former Liverpool midfielder Suso, now at AC Milan.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Suso. According to The Mirror, Tottenham are considering making a move for the 23-year-old attacking midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The former Liverpool player’s father, Jesus Fernandez, has told MilanNews.it that the Spaniard wants to renew his contract (click here to read more), but that should not deter Tottenham from making a move.
Smart signing
Suso was on the books of Liverpool from 2010 until 2015 and failed to make a big impact in the Premier League.
The former Spain Under-21 international attacking midfielder, though, has revitalised his career at Milan.
The 23-year-old has scored six goals and created 47 chances in 27 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri so far this season.
Suso is still developing as a footballer and he may not be in a position to take Tottenham to the next level, but he would be a very smart signing.
First of all, the Spaniard would have something to prove in the Premier League. Suso’s spell at Liverpool was, to be bluntly, a failure, and he would surely want to show his detractors what he is capable of.
Christian Eriksen is the main playmaker at Tottenham, but he does have spells when he struggles and loses consistency.
The presence of Suso is going to push Eriksen and make him fight harder for his place in the Spurs starting lineup.
Moreover, if the 25-year-old Denmark international does go through a bad period, then Suso could step up in his place. Previous Premier League experience is also going to be useful.
