Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is now open to letting Dele Alli leave the club in January having previously rejected moves to offload him.

That’s according to The Athletic, who state that Tottenham are open to letting Alli depart in the upcoming transfer window.

Alli was ditched from Nuno’s squad to face Burnley on Wednesday night despite being fit and available.

The 25-year-old was blocked from leaving Tottenham when Paris Saint-Germain wanted him in the summer of 2020 and in January 2021.

Daniel Levy simply wouldn’t let him go, but is now prepared to do a U-turn and offload Alli in January.

Alli has failed to live up to his early hype at Tottenham, regressing gradually to the point where he isn’t even in the matchday squad.

Alli to leave Tottenham for Newcastle?

The report notes that PSG’s interest may well have faded, and a move to Newcastle seems more realistic at this point in Alli’s career.

SPORT in Spain reported earlier this month that Newcastle are indeed interested in signing Alli in January.

The Magpies have money to spend after their big takeover and Alli could be a target.

Levy may not want to let Alli join another Premier League club, but just how much interest is there going to be now?

Alli is going backwards at Tottenham, and if he can move to Newcastle – the club who tried to beat Tottenham to his signature in 2015 – then it may be something worth exploring for all involved.
