Tottenham Hotspur were offered the chance to sign Tete in January and the winger has dazzled on his debut for Leicester City.

Leicester started something of a new era on Saturday afternoon as they unleashed three major new signings against Aston Villa.

Left back Victor Kristiansen came in to start after arriving from Copenhagen, as did defender Harry Souttar having arrived from Stoke City.

Then there was winger Tete, who has joined Leicester on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk until the end of the season.

Souttar didn’t exactly start well as he scored an own goal, but he and Kristiansen were largely solid throughout.

Tete brought some magic in the final third as he found the net in a superb 4-2 victory for the Foxes.

Gary Lineker hails Leicester City new boy Tete

With the game finely-poised at 2-2, Tete made a darting run in behind the Villa defence before rounding Emi Martinez to score.

Tete was largely impressive throughout, racking up six successful dribbles in a superb performance.

Leicester have been seeking a quality right winger for years now and it seems like Tete could be their man.

Only having Tete on loan is a concern for Leicester but Gary Lineker didn’t seem to be too worried about that.

Lineker took to Twitter to claim that Tete was ‘head and shoulders the best player’ on the pitch in a bonkers game at Villa Park.

Tete could have been lining up for other Premier League clubs this weekend having been offered to a host of clubs.

90Min reported in December that West Ham, Tottenham, Newcastle and Arsenal were all made aware of Tete’s availability.

Tottenham did need another winger but ended up signing Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal instead.

Maybe Tottenham will continue to keep tabs on Tete though, as it’s hard to ignore him after such an impressive debut display.
