Tottenham Hotspur legend Paul Miller has suggested to The Sun that Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is not as good as he is made out to be.

Miller made the comments ahead of the Champions League final between Tottenham and Liverpool at Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid this coming weekend.

Van Dijk is one of the best central defenders in the world and is set to start for the Reds in their second successive Champions League final.

The former Celtic and Southampton star could face Tottenham striker Harry Kane in the final in Madrid.

Kane has been on the sidelines since April due to a ligament injury he picked up against Manchester City.

The England international striker has been training well, and, according to The Daily Mail, the 25-year-old will fly to Madrid with the rest of the Tottenham squad.

Tottenham legend Miller, who played for the North London outfit in the 1970s and the 1980s, believes that Van Dijk is not as good as he is made out to be.

Miller told The Sun when asked about Van Dijk against Kane: “Harry does well against Van Dijk and he always scores against Liverpool. Van Dijk is all right but I don’t think he’s the superstar everyone makes out. It’s easy to be a defender nowadays.”
