Lazio fighting to keep Tottenham target Igli Tare
Tuttomercatoweb report that Tottenham are looking to land Lazio sporting director Igli Tare.
It’s stated that Juventus are also interested with both clubs prepared to move for Tare if he is open to leaving Lazio.
However, Lazio president Claudio Lotito is putting up a fight and wants to give Tare a new three-year deal to stay in Rome.
A deal is being worked on and that could rule Tare out as an option for Tottenham.
Tare, 49, had a strong playing career in which he really made a name for himself in Italy with Brescia, Bologna and Lazio.
A former Albanian international, Tare was a target man who was never really prolific but racked up more than 400 career appearances.
Tare has been sporting director at Lazio since 2008, meaning he is now approaching 15 years in the job.
Tare has sold a number of players for big money, such as Felipe Anderson, Keita Balde, Joaquin Correa, Pedro Neto and Aleksandr Kolarov.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been a major success story for Tare too, becoming one of the top midfielders in Europe.
Tare has a strong reputation in the game and Tottenham are understandably keeping tabs – even if, as things stand, Paratici will be able to continue.
