Emmanuel Adebayor is expected to feature against Wigan tomorrow, albeit likely off the bench. The striker has recovered from a stomach bug which kept him out of the cup tie in midweek, and will look to score his first goal for the club since signing permanently in August.
Moussa Dembele’s spell on the sidelines continues, and the midfielder is hoping to avoid having an operation on his injured hip. Boss AVB says if the player can avoid surgery, then he could return in as little as 1-2 weeks time.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Younes Kaboul and Scott Parker also remain ruled out, with Jake Livermore has an injured ankle which means he is touch and go for a place on the bench tomorrow. Wigan are likely to be without Arsenal loanee Ryo Miyaichi, report the Telegraph, with the Japanese attacker struggling with an injury, although he will be given until tomorrow to prove his fitness.
Jermain Defoe has taken a fond look back to Spurs’ 9-1 thrashing of Wigan back in 2009, but the striker says he is under no illusions of such a scoreline happening again. And finally, right-back Kyle Walker has made a u-turn over his Twitter account, insisting he needs to be more thick skinned to criticism, and will venture back onto the social networking site in future. He has also discussed his up and down form, adding he is prepared to do extra training if it will be of benefit.
