Tom Huddlestone’s red card against Norwich this weekend has been rescinded by the FA. The decision was initially thought to be harsh and it appears common sense has prevailed and he will be available for the game against Reading. That’s if the 25 year old is still with the club, as we brought the news to you yesterday he is reportedly seeking a move to Russia or Turkey and we concocted a list of his potential options including joining some old friends in Russia.

Didier Deschamps protested that he was not intentionally stirring things up between club and country today after announcing that Hugo Lloris was unhappy at Andre Villas Boas’s assertion that Brad Friedel will continue to be Spurs number one until Lloris wins the jersey off of him. Despite clearly causing a problem with his comments Deschamps denied doing so but the news will not come at a good time for AVB who has seen his side struggle so far this season.

Any hope Spurs had of bringing in Joao Moutinho in January may have taken a blow today as Zenit St Petersburg seem set to move in for the Portugal international. After raiding Portugal yesterday for Moutinho’s team-mate Hulk and Benfica’s Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel the Russian champions are looking to strengthen their squad even more by bringing in AVB’s long term target to the club.

Meanwhile summer recruit Jan Vertonghen has been bestowed a significant individual honour by being awarded the Eredivisie’s Golden Boot award as the best player in the division following his outstanding performances for Ajax last season. Such successes lead to Spurs chasing the Belgian international and he thanked his family and former coach Frank de Boer for all their help in achieving the accolade. He follows in the footsteps of Luis Suarez, Jonny Heitinga, Ruud Van Nistlerooy, Jaap Stam and legends such as Marco Van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp and Ruud Gullit in being awarded the prestigious honor.

Former Tottenham cult hero Jurgen Klinsmann believes the fans at White Hart Lane will quickly learn to love Clint Dempsey. As a genuine medium between the two as Dempseys national manager with the USA and a still revered icon at Spurs his opinion on the matter is that with his hard working mentality and down to earth personality Dempsey will soon have admirers everywhere at The Lane. Meanwhile Dempsey was looking forward to playing at the highest level but was left slightly upset at the way Fulham were treated during the transfer period.
