Tottenham Hotspur have several injury concerns ahead of the game with Swansea this weekend. Younes Kaboul is still recovering from a serious knee problem while Gareth Bale and Michael Dawson are doubtful with hamstring injuries. Scott Parker and Benoit Assou-Ekotto on the other hand are stepping up their recoveries from respective Achilles and knee injuries but still remain doubtful to start the fixture.
Tottenham have once again been linked with a move for Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen. The Danish playmaker has been in great form in the past six months finally living up to his billing as one of Europe’s most promising young players. He recently rejected a new offer at the Amsterdam club believing the time was now right for him to move on with Barcelona his dream location.
Andre Villas Boas has leant his backing to the FA potentially challenging the punishments laid out by UEFA in relation to the racist incidents in Serbia during the under-21 match with England. Steven Caulker has received a two game ban as a consequence for his involvement in the fracas. Several other Spurs players were also involved in the incident including on-loan Sunderland full-back Danny Rose and Adam Smith and after hearing their version of events AVB is disappointed with the outcome of UEFA’s investigation.
Former Tottenham captain Ledley King, who retired this summer and now works as an ambassador for the club, believes that building a new stadium will help the club attract a higher calibre of player. Tottenham have received funding in order to help them build a 56,000 arena to replace the current White Hart Lane ground they call home. It is hoped that the building of the new facilities will help Spurs compete with top European clubs.
Tottenham’s goalkeeping outcast Heurelho Gomes is desperate to leave the club. Currently behind Brad Friedel, Hugo Lloris and Carlo Cudicini in the pecking order and has reportedly issued the club with an ultimatum over his future. It is believed if he is not granted a transfer in January so he can return to his homeland Brazil he will dig in his heels at the club and see out the remaining 18 months of his contract costing the club unnecessary funds.
Andre Villas Boas has once again leapt to the defence of his wing sensation Gareth Bale claiming that accusations the Welshman is a diver are unfair. The left winger has not played since being booked for simulation four games ago as he has been nursing a hamstring problem.
