All the news and gossip relating to to Tottenham Hotspur in the past 24 hours.
In yet another sensational twist in life under Andre Villas Boas it seems the now rejuvenated Jermain Defoe could be on his way to QPR; as Tottenham gear up for another crack at Brazilian starlet Leandro Damiao, report The Guardian. Spurs finally sealed a deal for Emmanuel Adebayor yesterday but are not done with their striker spending as the AVB looks to bring in long term target Damiao. Villas Boas wants 3 strikers competing for 1 place in a 4-3-3 system and has his heart set on giving 19 year old Harry Kane a fair crack at the gig. It would leave Defoe needing to move on, and become another player out the door in the Portuguese’s White Hart Lane boot sale.
Spurs are also lining up 24 year old Brazilian international Willian from Shakhtar Donetsk to provide competition in the wide right position of a 4-3-3. The Daily Mail believes a £20 million deal for the winger is set in place and the tricky former Corinthians player has had his heart set on a move to London for years and has even learned English to help aid a potential move to the capital.
Tom Huddlestone has completed a season long loan move to Stoke as Andre Villas Boas wants him to gain regular football in his recovery from a series of injury problems. The giant centre midfield man has joined up with Tony Pulis, who was in the market for a creative midfield player. Jermaine Pennant tweeted the news of Tom’s impending medical at the club early this morning and the former Derby man could make his Stoke debut against Arsenal this weekend, report The Telegraph.
Another player who seems to be definitely on his way out of The Lane is Michael Dawson. Originally named club captain in the summer after the retirement of Ledley King he appears to have quickly lost the favour of AVB and is all set to join Ricardo Carvalho in strengthening QPR’s flimsy defence. BBC report the deal could be worth an eventual £9 million pounds, however Nottingham Forest will also be due a 10% cut.
Sebastien Bassong, who was sold yesterday to Norwich, said that the chance to work with former Tottenham assistant Chris Hughton was the reason behind choosing the Canaries. He added that he felt Villas-Boas had been more than fair to him, and had no hard feelings over making the switch.
A player who looks like he will now not be on his way is goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, with Lyon’s advisor Bernard Lacombe commenting the stopper is ‘less hot to leave.’
Spurs are still in the race to sign Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid alongside Arsenal and Liverpool, with reports he had agreed a deal with the Gunners premature. Jose Mourinho confirmed this afternoon the midfielder will be heading to the Premier League, but he is still weighing up his options between the three clubs.
And finally HITC have brought to you a preview of Tottenham’s first NextGen Series match up of the 2012-13 season which gets under way tonight in Germany.
