All the news and gossip relating to Tottenham Hotspur FC in the past 24 hours.

David Bentley has not ruled out the idea of remaining in Russia beyond the six month loan spell currently agreed at FC Rostov. He made the move to the Russian National Championship after it was made abundantly clear he was not a part of Andre Villas Boas’s first team plans for the upcoming season. Depending on the success and enjoyment of his stay in Russia he would certainly consider playing in Russia on a more long term basis. He has also stated however that he has a desire to succeed at the White Hart Lane on the back of what he hopes will be a successful loan spell.

Tottenham’s impressive young goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux is relishing the opportunity of playing at White Hart Lane tomorrow night in the Next Gen series matchup with Barcelona. It means even more to the Kentish Town born stopper who never thought his boyhood dream would be realised after being released by Brentford as a 15-year-old. However he is now gearing up to a famous encounter against the boys from La Masia that will be broadcasted live on Eurosport and he had this to say about the fixture.

“It’s the kind of thing that dreams are made of – I never would have expected it a few years ago. It’s unbelievable to be given the opportunity to play at White Hart Lane in front of the fans.

“It will definitely be a tough game, but we’re not worrying about whether they’re going to unleash this player or that player.’’

Spurs’s new signing Hugo Lloris is already perturbed enough at White Hart Lane but will be even more annoyed to discover Spurs have slipped out of the top 20 in European Power Rankings; especially when he discovers former club Lyon are the team that leapfrogged them. He completed an £8 million switch between the clubs on deadline day, and says he is keen to get started.

Tottenham fans however will be pleased to hear the news that none of their players have returned from international duty scathed unlike much of the rest of the Premier League. Long term absentees Scott Parker, Younes Kaboul and Heurelho Gomes remain the only players on the sidelines as the likes of Bale, Dempsey, Vertonghen, Dembele and Sandro went away for international duty without picking up injuries.

And finally for a look at where Tottenham’s summer spending places them in terms of net spend compared to the rest of the Premier League clubs, check out the full table here. A clue, they aren’t at the top…
