Tottenham’s efforts to sell Emmanuel Adebayor to Besiktas has hit a snag and quite a predictable one at that. The Togolese striker’s £100,000 a week wages are the problem.
Coach Slaven Bilic confirmed the interest on behalf of the Turkish side:
“Adebayor is a very talented player, anyone would like him to be a part of their squad. We are interested in Adebayor however, we have to also consider his financial demands.”
The Evening Standard report that Spurs have accepted a £6 million offer, and Adebayor has an offer of £67,000 a week on the table should he decide to accept.
The Metro report that Aston Villa and Tottenham are negotiating over the transfer of Christian Benteke, but the club want a 25 per cent sell on fee for the striker if Spurs do not meet their £26 million valuation.
Benteke is due back in training for Villa tomorrow, and faces a fine if he fails to turn up, as has been speculated.

New Atletico Madrid striker David Villa has blamed Tottenham’s ‘slow dealing’ for them missing out on him.
He said: “It is true the idea was for me to go to the Premier League, because the biggest offers came from there.
“But then Atletico Madrid showed up and they did more in three days than others did in months.”
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has praised new signing Paulinho, stating that the midfielder’s addition shows the club can attract players of the top quality:
“It’s a good thing for us to have a Brazil international in our team,”
