Soares played alongside Eric Dier at Sporting Lisbon and was part of the Portugal squad which won Euro 2016.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Tottenham are chasing Sassuolo attacker Gregoire Defrel.
Leicester, Southampton and West Ham also want the attacker who netted 14 goals last season.
According to a report from Spanish newspaper Marca, Tottenham are pursuing 21-year-old goalkeeper Carlos Abad from Tenerife, as an alternative to Pau Lopez.
The Sun report Spurs failed in a late bid to try and sign Dani Alves. He is set to join Manchester City instead.

According to a report on ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur view Vincent Marcel as a signing for their development squad, rather than their first-team.
Spurs have reportedly agreed a five-year deal in principle with Marcel, but still have to negotiate a price with Nice for the winger.
