Tottenham Hotspur are watching the situation of Southampton right back Kyle Walker-Peters as he looks to leave the club in the near future.

That’s according to talkSPORT, who claim that Tottenham are ‘keeping tabs’ on Walker-Peters in case he becomes available.

It’s stated that Walker-Peters is now pushing to leave Southampton having stalled on the idea of signing a new contract.

The Saints hierarchy now fear a real battle to keep Walker-Peters with some of the top Premier League clubs interested.

It’s stated that Manchester United are keen on signing Walker-Peters as a potential replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka if he moves on this month, which looks unlikely.

Chelsea are also interested in signing Walker-Peters as they seek another right wing back to offer cover and competition for Reece James.

Kyle Walker-Peters presents great Pedro Porro alternative for Tottenham

It’s pretty clear that Tottenham need to sort out their right wing back situation.

Emerson Royal just isn’t good enough for that role, Matt Doherty isn’t the long-term solution and Djed Spence hasn’t started a league game for Spurs yet.

Antonio Conte needs quality wing back options and Tottenham have been heavily linked with signing Sporting star Pedro Porro this month.

That deal is proving difficult to pull off and Tottenham could now look to an interesting alternative in Walker-Peters.

The 25-year-old came up through the Tottenham ranks but only managed 24 first-team appearances for the club.

Southampton took Walker-Peters on loan in 2020 before signing him permanently in the summer just as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg left for Tottenham.

David Ornstein reported over the summer that Tottenham placed a £30million buy-back clause into Walker-Peters’ deal, but it’s unclear whether that clause is still active.

Walker-Peters maybe isn’t the attacking force that Porro is, but he would be a homegrown option if the Spaniard can’t be secured this month.
