Tottenham Hotspur should make a move now, otherwise they risk being left behind.

Kieran Trippier’s injury means that Tottenham Hotspur simply cannot afford to wait any longer to make a signing.

The London Evening Standard report that Spurs are confident that Trippier will be available for their match against Newcastle United.

However, the former Burnley man’s potential absence, just goes to show how short of options Spurs are.

Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that Kyle Walker-Peters isn’t ready to play in the senior side yet, which means Eric Dier may have to play at right-wing back if Trippier is out.

Dier’s switch to the right hand side would mean a complete reshuffle of Spurs’ defence, and their task of beating Newcastle would only be made harder.

If Tottenham are serious about winning the Premier League title, they cannot afford to be left behind by their rivals, while waiting for their strongest line-up to become available again.

And Tottenham must dip into the transfer window now, to ensure that additions are made before the season starts, even if it costs them slightly more money.
