Tottenham Hotspur battled to a 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday – and Jurgen Klopp made some rather cutting remarks about Antonio Conte’s style of play.

In an action-packed game in North London, Tottenham took the lead through Harry Kane but missed a number of chances.

Diogo Jota made them pay with an equaliser before he could have won a penalty. With Kane escaping a red card, Liverpool may feel Tottenham got the rub of the green.

Liverpool did go ahead through Andrew Robertson – despite what appeared to be a Mohamed Salah handball – only for Son Heung-min to level it again.

Robertson was then sent off for a foul on Emerson Royal, bringing this chaotic game to an end at 2-2.

Klopp comments spark reaction from Tottenham fans

After the game, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp suggested that Tottenham were simply lumping the ball forward.

That isn’t quite fair; Tottenham played with a 3-5-2, mostly nullifying Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in open play.

That did though allow room for full backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson. It’s no surprise that both Liverpool assists came from their full backs.

Yet by pushing them so far forward, Liverpool’s centre backs were left isolated against Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

When there is that much space, why wouldn’t you exploit it? Klopp saw it happen many times but didn’t appear to change anything.

Additionally, FotMob record that Liverpool actually played more long balls than Tottenham – 62 to 59.

All of this means that Tottenham fans have been left absolutely baffled by Klopp’s comments, branding them ‘embarrassing’.

Some believe that Klopp simply can’t be serious, even claiming that he has become a parody of himself.

Others just love that Antonio Conte and Tottenham got under Klopp’s skin, feeling that the German is ‘rattled’.
