Tottenham Hotspur legend Jurgen Klinsmann has returned to management – and will now coach Son Heung-min with the South Korea national team.

The South Korean FA have this morning confirmed the appointment of Klinsmann with a press conference scheduled for Tuesday.

Paulo Bento left his post as South Korea boss after being knocked out of the World Cup by Brazil with a 4-1 thumping.

That decision had been made in September but South Korea now have a new boss in place with Klinsmann.

The Tottenham hero returns to management for the first time since a dreadful – and short-lived – stint as Hertha Berlin boss in the 2019-20 season.

Klinsmann has previously managed Germany, Bayern Munich and the United States with mixed success.

Now given another chance to shine as a manager, Klinsmann will now be able to manage Tottenham star Son Heung-min on the international stage.

South Korea’s captain is Tottenham star Son, who has now racked up 108 caps and 35 goals for his country.

There may be some promising players emerging in Lee Kang-in, Cho Gue-sung, Kim Min-jae and Oh Hyeon-gyu but Son is the main attraction.

Klinsmann will build his team around Son whilst he still can; approaching 31, it’s unclear just how long Son will continue to play for South Korea.

The pair can certainly bond over their respective Tottenham careers.

Son has been a superstar for Tottenham with 140 goals in 357 appearances for the club.

Klinsmann was a fan favourite in his own right though, smashing 29 goals in the 1994-95 season before returning with a superb loan spell in 1998.

Klinsmann claimed to have had talks with Tottenham over becoming manager in 2021 and admitted that he would love to become Spurs manager one day.

That is unlikely to happen but Klinsmann can settle for the next best thing – managing one of the biggest stars Tottenham have at their disposal in Son.
