River Plate winger Julian Alvarez has now been praised by Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni after being linked with Tottenham Hotspur this week.

Alvarez was part of the Argentina squad that won Copa America over the summer.

The 21-year-old winger is excelling in Argentina, bagging a brace for River against bitter rivals Boca Juniors on Sunday.

It looks like Alvarez will ultimately leave River for Europe in the near future, but he is currently looking to shine on international duty.

Alvarez is in Scaloni’s squad to face Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru over the next week.

Scaloni has now raved about Alvarez after seeing him in training this week, telling Bolavip that his effort in training is ‘incredible’.

Scaloni, formerly of West Ham United, could now pick Alvarez in the Argentina first team this week, continuing his rise.

Tottenham’s interest in Alvarez

Calciomercato report that Tottenham have joined the race for Alvarez’s signature.

Aston Villa are also in the mix for Alvarez, but Tottenham’s interest is intriguing.

Tottenham already have two of Alvarez’s international teammates – Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso.

Both players will be seeing just how good Alvarez is in training, and could feed that back to Fabio Paratici.

Tottenham may well be in the market for another winger, and Alvarez could be their man as he continues to show huge potential.
