Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his engine room.
That’s according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, who claim that Tottenham are keen to sign Veretout this month.
Napoli are also believed to be interested, with Veretout potentially expendable at Roma this month.
Veretout has impressed under Jose Mourinho this season, recording four goals and six assists in 21 games.
Tottenham now want to raid Mourinho, potentially bringing Veretout back to England.
Some will remember Veretout from his first spell in the Premier League, which came with Aston Villa.
Villa raided Nantes to sign Veretout in 2015, splashing £8million to bring the midfielder to England.
Veretout only made 25 appearances for Villa, spending his second year with the club on loan at Saint-Etienne before being sold to Fiorentina for a loss at £6.25million.
Veretout has thrived in Italy, bouncing back from his Villa nightmare brilliantly.

Now with five caps for France, Veretout has far exceeded expectations since leaving Villa.
Tottenham have though been down this route recently. They snapped up goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini over the summer, who was also signed and offloaded by Villa quickly.
Gollini hasn’t exactly impressed in his loan spell at Tottenham, and some will worry that Veretout would be the same way..
Veretout turns 29 in March too, meaning there would be little resale value moving forward.
That’s a concern for Tottenham, who need to add value to their team after the failed Tanguy Ndombele signing.
