Tottenham Hotspur want Jakub Kiwior but Juventus are now hatching a Dejan Kulusevski-esque raid for the Spezia defender in January.

Left-sided centre backs are becoming more and more valuable in the modern game.

The angles provided by left-footed centre backs can help play through high pressing and we are seeing them cost more and more on the market.

Tottenham are likely to be in the market for one in 2023 and Fabio Paratici may well look towards the Italian market once again.

Tottenham Hotspur want Jakub Kiwior

Spurs did pounce to sign Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona but that deal may not become permanent if other options are available.

Lenglet did always kind of feel like a stop-gap for a year until Tottenham can go and splash the cash on a left-sided centre back for the future.

Alessandro Bastoni, Josko Gvardiol and Pau Torres have all been linked but there is another name in the mix.

Marca claim that Tottenham are battling Atletico Madrid and a host of other clubs in the race for Spezia star Jakub Kiwior.

Kiwior has been excelling for Spezia in Serie A and is now shining at the World Cup with Poland, helping them keep two straight clean sheets.

The 22-year-old centre back fits that naturally left-footed mould and has huge potential for the future.

Add in that Fabio Paratici knows Riccardo Pecini, the man who signed Kiwior for Spezia, very well and you can see why Tottenham may be sniffing around.

Yet Tuttosport claim that Juventus are now keen on Kiwior too and are hatching a plan to sign him.

It’s stated that Juventus could sign Kiwior in January but allow him to spend the rest of the season on loan at Spezia.

That could suit all parties and the plan is branded as ‘formula K’ because it mirrors the way in which Juventus signed Dejan Kulusevski in January 2020.

Kulusevski was on loan at Parma from Atalanta at the time but Juventus paid up to get him out of Atalanta, only to send him straight back to Parma on loan.

The irony here is that Kulusevski is now a Tottenham player and Paratici would no doubt love to add Kiwior to Kulusevski at Tottenham, rather than see Juventus pull off a more elaborate deal; after all, that move to Juventus didn’t exactly work for Kulusevski, so maybe Kiwior should skip Juventus and head straight for North London.
