Tottenham have snapped up Ivan Perisic – and he has admitted to keeping tabs on their results ahead of his move to North London.

Tottenham clinched Champions League football with a 5-0 thrashing of Norwich City on the final day of the season.

The key result was beating Arsenal 3-0, piling the pressure on the Gunners who had been holding onto fourth place.

Arsenal’s slip up against Newcastle United came just days after Tottenham beat Burnley, leaving Tottenham’s fate in their own hands.

They got the job done in style, leaving Arsenal to settle for Europa League action in a dismal end to their season.

Tottenham attaining Champions League football makes them all the more appealing in the summer transfer window.

Antonio Conte has now been able to pull off his first signing of the summer by bringing winger Perisic to North London.

Tottenham today confirmed the arrival of Perisic, handing him a two-year contract until 2024.

Perisic is out of contract at Inter Milan this summer and has now decided to leave the Serie A club to reunite with Conte.

The Croatian international will likely play as a wing back under Conte and provides real experience at the age of 33.

Landing Perisic on a free transfer is a great deal for Tottenham and his knowledge of Conte’s system and approach stands him in great stead.

Perisic has now spoken to Spurs TV after finalising his move, admitting that he was waiting throughout the final weeks of the season to see whether Tottenham qualified for the Champions League.

Perisic added that he saw the victory over Arsenal and then felt it was ‘obvious’ that Tottenham would leapfrog the Gunners – even though that win still left Spurs trailing in the table.

The veteran wide man added that he can’t wait to play in the Premier League and Champions League, vowing to give his best for Tottenham in all competitions.

“I was waiting, I was waiting for the last two or three games,” said Perisic. “I was watching and after the victory against Arsenal, it was obvious that Tottenham would go in the Champions League.”

“It was also good for me because I want to play the best games, I want to do a great job in the Champions League like also in the Premier League and both cups,” he added.
