Tottenham Hotspur will be offered the chance to sign Real Madrid playmaker Isco this month as the Spanish giants desperately attempt to get rid.

The Sunday Mirror (02/01, p67) came that Real Madrid plan to offer Isco to Tottenham inside the next two weeks.

Just why they’re specifically targeting Tottenham is unclear, though respective managers Carlo Ancelotti and Antonio Conte do have a strong relationship.

Tottenham have also been linked to offer playmakers like Philippe Coutinho, so maybe Real think they have a shot at a deal.

Isco, 29, looks a shadow of his former self now and has started just two league games under Ancelotti this season.

A talented playmaker who could conjure ‘magic’ according to Mauricio Pochettino, Isco definitely needs a fresh start now.

Eurosport claimed late in December that Arsenal and Newcastle both want talks over signing Isco.

You seemingly have to factor Tottenham into the race now, but is he really what Spurs need?

The likes of Isco and Coutinho have their best days behind them now, and gambling on that profile of player backfired for Everton with James Rodriguez.

Tottenham should be looking for the next Isco, not the current one who is barely getting a kick in Spain.

A big name and a star in the past, Isco shouldn’t really be a priority for Tottenham this month.
