Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon playmaker Marcus Edwards.
That is according to 90min, which has claimed interest from Tottenham in one of Edward’s Sporting teammates as well.
So, what is being reported about Tottenham Hotspur and Marcus Edwards? Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
Well, according to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon.
Spurs scouted Edwards this past weekend during the Portuguese league match between Benfica and Sporting at Estadio da Luz.
Tottenham were also keeping an eye on Sporting playmaker Pedro Goncalves during the game, according to the report.
Chelsea have been linked with Edwards as well. Spurs defender Pedro Porro rates him highly.
Marcus Edwards could be tempted to return to Tottenham Hotspur
I believe that Tottenham Hotspur could be able to sign Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2024.
Edwards came through the Tottenham youth system. The 24-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, failed to establish himself in the first team.
After loan spells at Norwich City and Excelsior, the Englishman joined Vitória de Guimaraes in 2019 and earned the move to Sporting in 2022.

In my view, Edwards could feel that he has unfinished business at Spurs and could be willing to return to the North London club if he was assured that he would get a chance to play regularly.
The 24-year-old has scored two goals and given three assists in 10 Portuguese league matches this season. The attacking midfielder scored seven goals and provided five assists in 27 league starts last season.
In other Tottenham transfer news, La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Spurs are unsure about letting Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave in the middle of the season.
Italian giants Juventus are keen on the Denmark international midfielder, who is now a squad player at Tottenham and has been linked with Fulham as well.
However, Spurs are not sure whether they should sell him in January or keep him until the end of the season.
Spurs are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season and could even challenge for the league.
Meanwhile, The Mirror has reported that Tottenham are interested in Torino defender Perr Schuurs, but he is on the sidelines at the moment due to a serious knee injury.
