Tottenham Hotspur claimed a much-needed win on Sunday afternoon, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg opening the scoring against Aston Villa.

Under-fire boss Nuno Espirito Santo desperately needed a result after three straight Premier League defeats.

Nuno got what he wanted with a 2-1 win as Hojbjerg fired Tottenham ahead in the first half.

Ollie Watkins brought Villa level in the second half, but Tottenham weren’t to be denied as a Matt Targett own goal won it for Tottenham.

Remarkably, this was the first time Tottenham scored two goals in a league game under Nuno.

Few would have had Hojbjerg down to be first goalscorer for Tottenham, but he took his goal very well.

Son Heung-min found him on the edge of the box, and Hojbjerg placed a fine shot past Emiliano Martinez.

That was just Hojbjerg’s third Premier League goal for Tottenham since joining from Southampton in 2020.

The 26-year-old was awful against Arsenal and really needed this bounce-back game against Villa to get back on track.

After the game, Tottenham left back Sergio Reguilon took to Tottenham to simply brand Hojbjerg a ‘warrior’.

Hojbjerg responded with a similarly brief verdict, calling Reguilon a ‘beast’ as the Tottenham duo big each other up following a much-needed win.
