Harry Kane and Dele Alli did not get off to the best of starts at Tottenham.
Uneasy start… Tottenham’s Dele Alli and Harry Kane
Harry Kane and Dele Alli are best of pals on and off the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur – but it was not always that way.
Kane has admitted, speaking to Soccer AM, that Alli infuriated him upon their first training session together, after managing to nutmeg him, The Mirror reported.
He said: “When he first came to Spurs we were training and he was young and had just come from MK Dons.
“I weren’t expecting it but he ‘megged me. I lost my head a bit and tried to take him out thinking ‘Who’s this young player coming in and nutmegging me?’
“I chased him round for a few minutes but I didn’t want to get nutmegged again so just stayed up front!”
Alli has gone on to prove this was no stroke of luck. In his very first game for the club in a friendly against Real Madrid he created headlines by nutmegging former Spurs ace Luka Modric.
The midfielder’s career took off immediately at the club – and he has scored more goals in two seasons (23) than Modric did in four seasons at the club (17).
The scary part of Alli’s talent is that he is just 20-years-old, and Tottenham are the envy of Europe by having him in their ranks.
Fortunately for Kane he has Alli alongside him and the pair are one of the most deadly combinations in the Premier League, with the club still having an outside chance of winning the Premier League title.
