Glenn Hoddle is worried about Son Heung-min after the Tottenham Hotspur attacker endured ‘another torrid game’ on Tuesday evening.

Tottenham travelled to Lisbon for their latest Champions League clash against Sporting Clube de Portugal.

A 2-0 win over Marseille last week left Tottenham fans hopeful of another win, but Spurs fell apart late in the day.

Paulinho and Arthur Gomes scored in injury time to give Tottenham a 2-0 defeat, leaving Antonio Conte with questions to answer.

Glenn Hoddle is worried about Son Heung-min

Conte’s own European record over the years is hardly stellar and a 2-0 defeat in Lisbon isn’t going to silence the doubters.

Tottenham have been picking up results this season without really playing all that well.

Spurs didn’t really look very fluid going forward against Sporting either and Conte’s decisions in the final third are being questioned.

Richarlison started in the front three alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min but it just didn’t work this time.

Son’s form is a major concern.

Last season’s joint-winner of the Premier League Golden Boot is off to a very slow start this term.

The 30-year-old hasn’t scored a single goal this season and didn’t exactly look like breaking his duck last night.

It’s strange to see Son this short of confidence, but it’s also strange that Conte won’t even consider dropping him to the bench.

Dejan Kulusevski is knocking on the door yet Son continues to be in the starting lineup with little effect.

Tottenham legend and former boss Glenn Hoddle has now commented on Son, telling BT Sport (13/09, 19:50) that he felt Son had a ‘torrid’ game.

Hoddle admitted that he loves Son ‘to bits’ and thinks he’s simply ‘fabulous’, but it’s clear that he is really lacking in confidence right now and wonders whether the time is right for him to be benched.

“We’ve spoke about Son, if it’s time to bring him out – he’s had another torrid game,” said Hoddle. “I love him to bits, he’s a fabulous player, but he’s struggling. As the ball is coming to him, he’s worried about his first touch whereas when you’re confident, you’re not even worrying about that, you’re thinking about what you’re going to do next.”
