Tottenham Hotspur have hopes of signing Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer – and he scored a vital goal on Sunday.
Tottenham just saw Harry Kane turn in one of the performances of his career in the 3-2 win over Manchester City.
Yet Fabio Paratici still needs to go and find another striker who can offer cover for Kane.
Somehow, Tottenham have never quite got this right. Signings like Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente didn’t quite work, and Spurs continue to go without a recognised second centre forward.
That could be a priority this summer, and one name that appears to be on the Tottenham radar is Gianluca Scamacca.
Transfer insider Dean Jones told Give Me Sport last week that Tottenham have ‘definitely’ explored a possible deal for Scamacca this summer.
A giant target man at around 6ft 5in tall, Scamacca had a strange start to his career, joining rivals Roma and Lazio before heading to PSV Eindhoven.
This season, Scamacca has been in great form with 10 goals in 24 games – and he showed his quality on Sunday night.
Sassuolo headed away to Inter Milan seeking to put a dent in Simone Inzaghi’s title hopes.
They ended up winning 2-0, with Scamacca scoring the second in a superb victory.

The goal was reminiscent of Kane’s second goal against City; a cross into the back post where Scamacca was able to plant a header into the corner of the net.
Scamacca has now been hailed in Italy, with Tuttomercatoweb branding his goal ‘imperious’ as he ghosted into the box to score.
With his stature and aerial ability, you can understand why Tottenham fancy signing Scamacca as another option behind Kane.
Paratici has great links in Italy and Sunday’s Kane-like goal may just tempt Tottenham into making a bid this summer.
