Tottenham Hotspur have been scouting Gabri Veiga amid claims that the Celta Vigo star wants to join Arsenal.

That’s according to 90Min, who claim that Tottenham have got involved in the race to sign Veiga.

It’s stated that Spurs have been scouting Veiga this season and could yet launch a move for the Spaniard.

Tottenham are far from alone in the race though with a host of Premier League clubs also interested.

The report claims that Arsenal, Brighton, Brentford, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also keen on Veiga.

Tottenham may well be in the market for another midfielder this summer and you can hardly blame them for fancying Veiga.

Tottenham target Gabri Veiga reportedly wants Arsenal move

Veiga has been outstanding this season, racking up eight goals and three assists in just 24 La Liga appearances.

The 20-year-old has really burst onto the scene this season and now finds himself as one of the most in-demand young midfielders in Europe.

Veiga has a €40million (£35million) release clause in his contract and Tottenham may well consider activating that deal.

Tottenham have options like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp, Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and the currently-injured Rodrigo Betnancur, but none quite have the goalscoring ability of Veiga.

One potential problem may come with Veiga’s alleged desire to play for Arsenal.

Madrid Universal have translated comments made by AS reporter Manu Sainz in which he claims that Veiga wants to play for Arsenal one day.

It’s claimed that Veiga dreams of joining the Gunners and they’re his favourite club outside of Spain.

If that is the case then it’s a little hard to imagine that Veiga would potentially put that dream at risk by joining Tottenham.

Arsenal are interested themselves and may well offer Veiga that dream move, making Tottenham’s task a little difficult.
