Tottenham Hotspur are at the front of the queue for AC Milan star Franck Kessie – but he has been urged to avoid a move away from the San Siro.

Tottenham leading Kessie race

Kessie has been linked with Tottenham for a long time now but especially since Antonio Conte’s arrival as manager.

The Ivorian is out of contract at the end of the season and can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with another club from January 1st.

The Express claim that Tottenham are now planning to make an early move for Kessie and have already spoken to his representatives.

Tottenham seemingly want to get Kessie tied down to a pre-contract agreement or make a cut-price cash move in January.

That would be quite the coup, with Kessie emerging as one of the top box-to-box midfielders in Europe.

Ambrosini tells Kessie to avoid inferior move

In Italy, it seems many are now beginning to fear that Kessie is indeed on his way out of Milan in 2022.

Former Milan ace and current pundit Massimo Ambrosini has now given his view to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Ambrosini was asked about Tottenham and Manchester United wanting Kessie, and noted his respect for them and noted his belief that they can offer more money.

However, Ambrosini claims that those clubs just aren’t a ‘higher level’ than Milan, urging him not to leave the San Siro.

“I have every respect for the professional decisions of fellow players. All I can say is that these clubs who can offer a higher salary aren’t of a higher level than Milan,” said Ambrosini.

“The chance to bring home €8m rather than €6m should not be the priority if you are happy otherwise where you already are. He shouldn’t think of Milan as a club of a secondary level,” he added.
