Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal had both been in battle to sign William Saliba.

Tottenham Hotspur have already secured another victory in the transfer market, if Arsenal have raised their bid for William Saliba.
Spurs outbid Arsenal for the 18-year-old, but Unai Emery’s side have reportedly hit back.
Tottenham may not risk missing out on Saliba, but whatever way this transfer goes, they can feel satisfied.
Spurs have either forced Arsenal into spending more of their limited budget on a player who looks a massively bright prospect, but may not be able to step straight into their first-team and immediately solidify their defence.

Or they will still beat their main rivals to one of their key targets, forcing them to look elsewhere, and securing one of the most talented teenagers in French football in the process.
It is a rare occasion when Tottenham will surely walk away from the negotiations feeling happy, regardless of the outcome.
And Daniel Levy must feel that he has played a blinder in the transfer market now.
