Tottenham Hotspur cannot register any new players until the January transfer window, however.

Several Tottenham Hotspur supporters are clamouring for the signing of Claudio Marchisio after Juventus terminated the midfielder’s contract on Friday.
Tottenham were widely expected to strengthen in Marchisio’s position in the summer transfer window, which ended without a single new signing being made by Spurs.
But even though the Italy international is now a free agent, FIFA rules state he can only be registered with clubs whose windows are currently open – meaning Tottenham will have to wait until January if they do intend to sign him.
And that could leave some of the following Spurs fans disappointed.

This is what they’re saying on Twitter…
Turin-born Marchisio spent his entire career on Juve’s books, in which time he helped them to win seven Serie A titles and as many domestic cups.
The 32-year-old was an unused substitute in both of the Italian side’s Champions League games against Tottenham last season.
Should Spurs snap up Marchisio for January?
