Is Fernando Llorente any better for Tottenham Hotspur than Vincent Janssen was?

It seems like absence makes the heart grow fonder for Tottenham Hotspur fans, many of whom are wishing that Vincent Janssen was retained last summer.

The Dutch striker was loaned to Turkish side Fenerbahce after a disappointing first season in North London, scoring twice from open play across 38 appearances in all competitions.

Tottenham went on to spend £12 million to sign Fernando Llorente as his replacement but time is proving that the Spaniard might be an even worse back-up option to Harry Kane.

The former Swansea City man was torn to shreds by Spurs fans for his lifeless performance in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Newport County, meaning that Llorente has still only managed two goals in 22 games this season.

The 23-year-old, however, hasn’t been doing much in Turkey and has only bagged two league goals in 11 appearances – nine of which were from the start.

He might be better than Llorente, but he is still nowhere near good enough to be Kane’s understudy with the Lilywhites and it would be a major shock if a replacement for both wasn’t signed this summer.
