Although the Belgian defender’s £25 million release clause has expired now, Tottenham could still accept an offer for him if one comes in before the end of the month.

The Champions League group stage draw was made yesterday, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side set to take on Bayern Munich, Red Star Belgrade and Olympiacos.
And Alderweireld was one of the Spurs players who reacted to the draw on social media.
Spurs fans are hoping that Aldereweireld’s apparent excitement for the Champions League shows that he is staying with them.
If Alderweireld does stick around at Tottenham that will be a major boost to Pochettino’s side, as he still ranks among the best defenders in the Premier League.
