Andros Townsend played with Gareth Bale at Tottenham Hotspur, earlier in their respective careers.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have urged Andros Townsend to bring Gareth Bale back to White Hart Lane.

Townsend and Bale played together at Tottenham, before the Welshman got his move to Real Madrid.

And Townsend tweeted in defence of his former Spurs teammate at the weekend, after Madrid boss Zidane publicly went on record to suggest that he was looking to sell Bale.

There have been some accusations that Madrid have not treated Bale well this summer, as Zidane looks to sell him.

Spurs fans certainly enjoyed Townsend’s tweet about Bale, and they were quick to tell the Crystal Palace winger to get in contact with his old friend.

The Independent claim Tottenham actually do want to sign Bale, but the deal remains very difficult.

Bale’s contract at Madrid is so vast, that Spurs cannot afford the transfer at this stage.

Mauricio Pochettino would surely welcome Bale back at Spurs, if the potential move did go ahead though.

Although the powerful forward has struggled with injury, he remains a world-class talent, and with him and Harry Kane in the same team, Tottenham would have one of the most dangerous attacking line-ups ever seen in the Premier League.
