Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld is on international duty with Belgium his club future is the big topic of conversation among fans.
Alderweireld posted a simple message onto his Twitter page at the weekend, expressing how happy he was to be with the Belgian squad.
He was quickly inundated with replies from Tottenham fans.
Tottenham supporters gave strong responses to Alderweireld’s message, although it was not a unified opinion.
Many were pleading with Alderweireld to sign a new contract, while others simply urge him to move on and not hold the club to ransom over a new deal.
Alderweireld is hoping to become Tottenham’s highest earner, but The Times report the North London club are unwilling to break their wage structure and could sell him.
The centre-back has been out of action with injury for much of 2017/18, which has helped Tottenham learn to cope without him.
If Alderweireld is going to convince Spurs to change their minds over pay, then he needs to be on top form when he returns.
The problem is Tottenham saw this play out a year ago with Kyle Walker, and losing another big name just 12 months later would not be a good sign, no matter how they dress it up.
