Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have hit out at Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the former Manchester United striker suggested that Harry Kane should consider leaving Spurs if he wants to win major silverware.

Since coming through the ranks at White Hart Lane, the 25-year-old has consistently delivered for both club and country, currently boasting a frightening goal tally of 160 goals in 244 senior games for Tottenham and 20 goals from 35 England caps (Transfermarkt).

Despite winning multiple personal accolades and trophies including Premier League Golden Boots and the 2018 World Cup Golden Boot, Kane is yet to get his hands on a major trophy, with the 2008 League Cup the club’s last piece of silverware.

As a result, Ibrahimovic is quoted by The Mirror as saying – in what is sure to enrage Tottenham fans – that playing for a “normal” club is not going to yield major trophies, so Kane – who is contracted to the Lilywhites until 2024 – will need to make the move.

“I think he can make it,” said the Swede. “He just needs to make the move, and people will remember you for what you win. So if he wants to win, then yes, I think he needs to change.”

Predictably, Ibrahimovic’s comments have gone down well among the Spurs contingent, with some fans taking to Twitter to issue a stern rebuke of the former Red Devils man:
