Tottenham Hotspur keeping hold of Victor Wanyama was one of the bigger surprises at the end of the European transfer window.

The Kenyan international had been linked to Celtic and Club Brugges, the Daily Record reported.

He has not featured for Tottenham this season in the Premier League.

Likewise Serge Aurier, who appears to be down to fourth or fifth option at Spurs at right-back.

Even with Kyle Walker-Peters, Eric Dier and Juan Foyth injured, Aurier was overlooked in the North London derby for Davinson Sanchez.

Aurier had been loosely linked with an exit, Soccerlink tipped AC Milan, but there were no moves for him on deadline day, even after his derby snub.

Both players remaining at Spurs remains a surprise, and Tottenham are now stuck with the pair until January unless they make the very costly move to terminate their contracts.

Each have made the bench this season despite not playing, and it is possible they are re-integrated into the first team.
