Tottenham Hotspur threw away a 3-0 lead over West Ham United on Sunday, but they may soon have some good news for fans.
Supporters have been understandably gutted since Sunday’s 3-3 draw having been coasting, and have needed some good news to cheer them up again.
Now, The Telegraph report that Daniel Levy is prioritising a new contract for winger Son Heung-min, and will make it Tottenham’s next piece of business.
With the summer transfer window over, the focus is now on keeping Son at Tottenham, even with his contract only set to run out in 2023.
Tottenham want to reward Son for his great form by bumping up his wages closer to highest earners Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele, which would be a huge rise from his current £110,000 wages.
The South Korean star, 28, joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, and has been a star for Tottenham ever since, whilst seven goals and two assists in the first five games this season is a staggering record.
Spurs fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the news, suggesting that Levy should pay Son whatever he wants and to simply give him a blank cheque.
Others think Son is Tottenham’s best player and has deserved a pay rise for a while now, branding him ‘world class’ whilst praying that the move is done soon.
