Tottenham Hotspur may be hoping to bring in a new left back this summer – and a surprise name was linked on Tuesday.
Spurs have loaned Danny Rose to Newcastle United, and he’s unlikely to have a future with the club when he comes back.
Ben Davies seems trusted by Jose Mourinho, but has suffered injury issues. Japhet Tanganga isn’t a natural left back, and Ryan Sessegnon is viewed as a winger for now.
Bringing in another option should be a priority – budget permitting at least. Now, Catalan newspaper SPORT claim that Tottenham have asked about a deal for Pervis Estupinan.
The Ecuador star has impressed on loan at Osasuna this season, and is now a wanted man. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are all thought to be interested.
The 22-year-old has notched one goal and five assists this term, starring as an attack-minded left back. That’s something Spurs may want in order to balance their options.

Estupinan is actually owned by Watford, having joined the club in 2016. He hasn’t yet made a single appearance for the Hornets though, spending his time out on loan in Spain.
He may now be ready for a big move, and Spurs fans seem a little split on the idea of a move. Some think he is ‘so bad’ and are praying Tottenham don’t sign him.
Others would prefer to see Dennis Cirkin given a chance instead, though some think Estupinan will be an ‘excellent player’ and would be an ‘amazing’ addition.
