Tottenham Hotspur ended their season with a big win as they beat Leicester City 4-2 at the King Power Stadium.

Spurs fell behind as Toby Alderweireld tripped Jamie Vardy, with Vardy picking himself up to score from the spot, only for Harry Kane to equalise.

Vardy won and scored another penalty, this time terrorising Davinson Sanchez, but Tottenham roared back to claim an unexpected victory.

Sanchez equalised before substitute Gareth Bale secured a late brace and all three points for Spurs in what could be his final game for the club.

Tottenham have secured Europa Conference League qualification and finished above Arsenal, but fans have been focused on the display of Matt Doherty.

The 2020 summer signing from Wolves has struggled this season, often coming in for major criticism having failed to live up to his billing.

With Japhet Tanganga injured and Serge Aurier left at home, Ryan Mason had no choice but to play Doherty – and he responded well.

Doherty recorded four interceptions, four clearances, three aerials won, three tackles, an accurate cross and a blocked cross in a decent display.

Fans have been taking to Twitter to suggest that Doherty was ‘class’, and actually redeemed himself for a poor season by turning in such a strong performance.

Others wanted to whisper is quietly and admitted that it may be an unpopular opinion, but Doherty deserves credit for an ‘excellent’ showing.
