Tottenham Hotspur fans have praised Raheem Sterling on Twitter, after his post following Manchester City’s exit from the Champions League.

City and Spurs played out one of the greatest games ever seen in the competition last night, with Sterling playing a central role in the drama.

The England international scored twice for City, and thought he had netted the winner in the final minute, only for VAR to come to Tottenham’s rescue.

Spurs thought that they were about to be knocked out of the competition when Sterling found the back of the net in the 93rd minute of the contest, but it turned out that Sergio Aguero was offside in the build up.

Tottenham ended up going through on away goals, leaving City crestfallen at full-time.

And even Tottenham supporters had to praise Sterling’s brilliant display after the game.

Tottenham’s victory means that they will now go on to face Ajax in the Champions League semi-final.
