Tottenham Hotspur could be in the market for a new midfielder this summer, and a new name emerged as a potential target on Wednesday.
The Daily Mail report that Spurs are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud, who has just over a year left on his contract.
Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City are also keen on Dahoud, with Dortmund potentially being offered the chance to cash in before he leaves for nothing next year.
Dahoud, 25, has played 12 Bundesliga games this season, registering one goal and no assists, whilst he has also scored once in four Champions League outings.
The Syrian-born ace was once highly-regarded at Borussia Monchengladbach, but has failed to really live up to his potential since joining Dortmund in 2017.
A technically-gifted midfielder who can dictate play whilst also having a great engine, Dahoud has endured a number of injury problems in recent years and may fancy a fresh start.
Spurs fans have been reacting on Twitter to the rumours, believing that Dahoud is better than Harry Winks and could ultimately be his replacement.
Others called Dahoud ‘class’ and ‘a baller’, urging Daniel Levy to get a deal done whilst feeling that he would provide great depth in midfield for Jose Mourinho.
