One of England’s World Cup 2018 heroes Kieran Trippier is battling a worrying stretch of form.

He has been in and out of the Tottenham team recently and scored an embarrassing own goal in a defeat to Chelsea.

Trippier retained his place in the England squad, but controversially so.

Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka was left out despite his own tremendous form.

Trippier admits he has found it tough.

He told BBC Sport: “The first half [of the season] has been frustrating for me and I can do so much better.

“It’s just one of those things that I take as a player and I can only learn from it.”

Trippier addressing his own shortcomings is a step in the right direction.

One aspect of his comments has concerned some fans, who pointed out that the season is far beyond it’s halfway stage.

There are only eight out of 38 Premier League matches remaining, with Spurs having two more Champions League games left, as a minimum.
